Nicely Patinated Copper AE 22 of Faustina II Issued at Pautalia

The delicate style of this little Greek Imperial copper coin of Faustina II stands in sharp contrast to the boldly struck devices found on most provincial coinage. Issued by the city of Pautalia in Thrace, the coin presented a bit of a challenge for the author to attribute, though there are doubtlessly many collectors of Roman Provincial coins that would have identified it right off. It is catalogued as Sear Greek Imperial s1726. The reverse image is that of Demeter seated left holding ears of grain and a sceptre.
