The Triumph of Probus

Obverse:
IMP CM AVR PROBVS AVG Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Probus left. The stern face of Probus is looking out from under his helmet visor, the spear over his right shoulder indicating that he has grim business with the barbarians and Persians making forays into Roman territory. Notice that the shield in this portrait is plain, not reinforced with rivets or scales like that one in the MARTI PACIF example.

Reverse:
VIRTVS PROBI AVG, KHH in exergue. Probus on horseback right with shield and spear riding down captive.

The coin is listed in David Sear's Roman Coins and their Values as s3379.
