The Triumph of Probus

Obverse:
VIRTVS PROBI AVG This superb obverse portrait of Probus shows the emperor in full battle dress, complete with crested helmet, scale or chain mail cuirass, and spear (hasta or pilum) carried across his right shoulder.

Reverse:
MARTI PACIF Mars advancing l., hldg olive branch, spear, and shield.

The coin is listed in David Sear's Roman Coins and their Values as s3379.
