Victory Driving Quadriga Right on a Republican Denarius of M. TVLLI

The symbolic Representation of military power and victory in war in ancient Rome often included the quadriga being drawn swiftly by four straining horses. Horses were also a symbol of civic power and status in Roman society.

They were usually associated with a person of Equestrian rank, who was well - off enough to afford their upkeep. Additionally, chariot racing became a favorite spectator and gambling sport amongst the Roman people.
