Camp Gate Reverse, London Mint

Roman Lundinium, or London was the westernmost major city of the Roman Empire. Most Americans, relating to their own history and thinking that a 350 year old city is old, are not aware that the capital of Great Britain was a thriving Roman city 1900 years ago. This coin was struck using worn out dies, and looks quite worn although it is almost uncirculated and has much of its original toned silver plating remaining. Roman coins struck at the London mint are, for obvious reason, quite popular with our British cousins and bring almost a fifty percent premium over those struck at other western mints.
