The Triumph of Probus

Obverse:
IMP CM AVR PROBVS PF AVG Bust of Probus facing left holding eagle - tipped sceptre. The image on many coin obverses of Probus shows the emperor facing left, draped in a civilian toga and holding an eagle - tipped sceptre. Lest one forget that Probus was a great general as well as a just emperor, a hint of armor in the form of the shoulder lames of his cuirass shows beneath his civilian garb.

Reverse:
VIRTVS PROBI AVG, XXIT in exergue. Probus on horseback left with shield and spear riding down captive.

The coin is listed in David Sear's Roman Coins and their Values as s3379.
