AE3 of Constantine II Caesar - Wreath With VOT X Legend Reverse

Apparently the letters of the legend became plugged with dirt or metal particles before this coin was struck. It is very sharply struck otherwise.

The Q*AR mint mark on this coin indicates it was struck at the Arelate mint. According to Carson, Hill, and Kent, There were four officina in operation during this period. These workshops were given the letters P, S, T, and Q which were prepended to the mintmark before the star. The letters stood for the Latin ordinal numbers prima, secunda, tertia, and quarta, meaning first, second, third, and fourth in English. Evidently the Q officina letter is quite rare during this period from A. D. 324 - 330.
