AE4 of Arcadius, Nicomedia Mint Example
This example was struck at the Nicomedia Mint. The mintmark is clearly legible in the exergue of the coin. The SM is an abbreviation for Sacra Moneta, and the N denotes the Nicomedia mint. The Greek letter Gamma to the right of the N is the officina, or workshop letter.
A P - headed cross is often seen in the left field in place of the cross present in this example.
